On August 26, 2013, the Montreal Impact Foundation officially came into life, under the presidency of Mr. Dino Madonis.
The creation of the Foundation is, in many respects, the legacy of the Montreal Impact's 20 years of community involvement.
"While our goal on the field is to be a competitive team, our commitment off the field is just as important,” said CF Montréal owner Joey Saputo. A soccer club is a living organization, which must grow and evolve in the community, for the community.”
Upon its launch, BMO Financial Group confirmed that the company would donate $100,000 to the Foundation over the next five years, for a total of $500,000.
"It gives me great pleasure today to join Joey Saputo and the Montreal Impact in this philanthropic initiative,” said L. Jacques Ménard, President, BMO Financial Group, Quebec. It's a natural partnership for BMO, given our relationship with the Impact and our commitment to the cause of youth. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of many young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.”
The Foundation's logo was created in line with its mission; the childlike script recalls the Foundation's raison d'être, children, while the heart symbolizes all the energy and love deployed to restore a glimmer of hope.
