After playing five of its six opening MLS games on the road and one at Olympic Stadium, the Club makes its big return to Stade Saputo this Saturday, April 16, to take on its Canadian rival in the Vancouver Whitecaps. Tickets for our opener at Stade Saputo are available here.

The game is set to kick off at 3p.m., although doors will be open as of 1:30p.m.

Montreal makes its return home while in the middle of a very good run of form. Wilfried Nancy’s men are unbeaten in their last three games, all on the road, including two consecutive wins against FC Cincinnati and the New York Red Bulls. They also trailed in all of these games, showing character and coming from behind to take seven of their last nine available points.

“It’s still a very long season,” said head coach Wilfried Nancy. “The results weren’t there in the beginning, but our performances were interesting. Now, the results are there, but we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves. We need to find the right balance. Right now, we’re focused on Vancouver. We need to continue doing things well. But things are interesting at the moment.”

Despite playing most of their six opening games on the road, Montreal is one of the most productive teams offensively this season. With 11 goals scored in their first six games, Montreal ranks third leaguewide, behind only Austin FC and LAFC with 14 goals apiece.

The Whitecaps have struggled coming out of the gate this year, with just one win on their opening six games. They currently sit near the bottom of the Western Conference standings and will be eager to add their first point of the road in 2022, this Saturday when they visit Stade Saputo.

“There are no easy games in MLS,” said Nancy. “The Whitecaps have a way of defending that’s quite particular. They can play low on the pitch, but they can also be aggressive with their players that are wide. Will they play this way against us, we’ll see. We’re excited. It’s really nice to be back home. And the pitch is perfect. We hope to see lots of supporters there.”

Before the game, we will also be honouring our Canadian players that helped the Canadian Men’s National Team qualify for the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Qatar. To mark the occasion, six signed Canada jerseys will be given out randomly in the crowd.

Montreal will be back on the road the following Saturday, April 23, to take on the league-leading Philadelphia Union at 4p.m., before returning to Stade Saputo on April 30 to take on Atlanta United for the second time this season.

The players need to hear you at the stadium this Saturday. Allez Montréal, Tous au Stade!
