Opponent watch: New England team news

New England Revolution Lineup vs Toronto FC

The Revs won over the weekend, surprising the Chicago Fire 1-0 at home, but the victory was only the team’s second in its last 16 games, going 2-10-4 over that span. The Revs allowed 19 goals against in those 16 games, a decent defensive record, but managed to score just 13 times.

The Revs are currently on a winless streak on the road of 13 games. Since earning a 3-1 win at LA on March 31, the Revolution has gone 0-11-2 away from Foxboro in all but one of those 11 losses were by one goal.

The Saturday visit to Montreal also presents the Revs a chance to do something the club has never done before: win on Canadian soil. Since 2007, the Revs are winless (0-3-5) in eight trips to Canada.

French striker Saer Sene leads the team in goals with 11 and has chipped in with three assists, making a strong case for as a Newcomer of the Year candidate in MLS this season.

Midfielder Kelyn Rowe’s five assists is tops in New England. With the three goals he’s scored in 2012, the rookie has proven himself a worthy selection in the 2012 SuperDraft. Rowe has factored in the last three Revolution goals scored dating back to his goal on Sept. 15 at D.C. United.
