Our eSports player will be in New York this weekend for eMLS League Series 2
Qualifying for the eMLS Cup is over and it's official - our eSports player presented by BMO will be one of 12 MLS team representatives competing for top honours on March 12 in Austin. This is a first for Alix Largerie, known as Loux11 in official competitions, who is in his second season with the Club.
“It was my goal at the beginning of the season to qualify for the eMLS Cup," explains our player. “I lost some games that could have allowed me to finish second overall. But I put it into perspective and told myself that sixth out of 26, only three points behind the third place, is still a very good performance for the Club. Especially considering the level displayed in the eMLS this season, which for me is one of the most challenging editions."
By finishing sixth overall in 2023, Loux11 will therefore not need to compete in the Last Chance Qualifier this time around to determine who will be the 12th and final player to qualify for the eMLS Cup on March 11 in Austin.
Focus on League Series 2
Before eMLS Cup, we have eMLS League Series 2, which begins this Saturday in New York with the group stage. Alix will need to finish in the top 2 in his group to compete in the knockout tournament this Sunday.
"I'm in a group of six players that includes three opponents I've already beaten at eMLS League Series One in New York. It could have been worse, but I'm staying focused and not taking any opponent lightly because anything can happen in this game."
Alix is confident after a strong performance in LS1, where he finished second in his group to qualify to the next round. The St. Pierre and Miquelon native eventually lost to GoalMachine from Toronto FC.
"I know I have the level, now it's up to me to prove in these moments that I can do it. I will learn from the mistakes I made and try not to repeat them. Especially now since my goal of participating in the eMLS Cup is achieved, it will allow me to play without pressure and try to show the best level of play possible."
You can watch the group stage on Saturday starting at noon live on the Twitch of Loux 11, and follow updates on the CF Montréal Twitter feed.
The knockout tournament will be streamed live on the official MLS Twitch account, this Sunday as of noon.
