MONTREAL - Goalkeeper James Pantemis and midfielders Samuel Piette and Shamit Shome have been selected by the Canadian national team to take part in a training camp in January, before playing three international friendly games, in California.

Canada will face Barbados on January 7 and 10, before playing Iceland on January 15.

Pantemis, 22, has been selected four times by the Canadian national team, for training camp and international competitions, while not appearing in any games so far. He was first called up to the Canadian U15 team in 2012 and also played with the U16, U17, U18 and U20 teams. He represented Canada at the Toulon tournament in 2018 with the U21, earning Canada Soccer's 2018 Good Hands Award at the end of the year, following an athletic save versus Japan in the tournament.

Piette, 25, has recorded four assists in 46 games, including 32 starts, with the Canadian national team. He made his senior debut with the Reds at the age of 17, on June 3, 2012, against the United States. He has appeared in the last four Concacaf Gold Cup tournaments, in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019, while also appearing in several 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as well as Concacaf Nations League games. He also represented Canada at the U17, U20 and U23 levels and played in the 2011 FIFA U17 World Cup in Mexico.

Shome, 22, earns his first selection with the Canadian national team. He previously attended training camp in January 2018 with the U23 team before playing in the prestigious Toulon Tournament in France, in June, with the U21 team. He has also played with the U20 and U18 selections.
