mehdibob3 will represent the Impact in Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – The third official eMLS season will begin this Thursday, in Philadelphia, with eMLS League Series One and mehdibob3, the Impact’s new eSports player presented by BMO, will be playing his first professional tournament representing Montreal’s colours.
The preliminary round, consisting of 12 games per player, will be played at Talen Energy Stadium on Thursday. mehdibob3 will play his first game against the reigning champion, doolsta, who is now representing one of the MLS expansion clubs, Nashville SC.
The seven players with the best eMLS League Series One point total, as well as the hosts’ player, will qualify for the knockout round, streamed live on Twitch on Friday. This format will also apply for eMLS League Series Two, on February 15, in Portland, Oregon.
After eMLS League Series One and Two, the 11 players with the most points will qualify to eMLS Cup, on March 21, in Austin, Texas, at SXSW festival. A direct elimination tournament between the other 14 players will determine the identity of the 12th player to qualify for the playoffs.
In 2020, eMLS players must respect the following rules for the formation they will be using:
- Five active MLS players on the field at all times;
- Two icons maximum;
- The team’s overall rating is 86 or lower;
- The individual player rating is at least 75;
- Players on the bench cannot have a rating higher than 86.
