Statement on Safety at Stade Saputo Following the October 21 Incidents

Following Wednesday’s match, unacceptable incidents took place at Stade Saputo. Several objects, including pyrotechnic devices, were thrown onto the field and toward security personnel. Acts of vandalism also occurred in the stadium concourses. These actions endangered the safety of those in attendance and are strongly condemned by the Club.

The Club recognizes the disappointment and dissatisfaction surrounding the team’s sporting results. However, results on the field can never, under any circumstances, justify violence, vandalism or any behaviour that puts the safety of others at risk.

To maintain a safe and secure environment for everyone at Stade Saputo, the Club will impose sanctions on those involved in Wednesday’s incidents. Individuals who are formally identified will also receive a lifetime ban from the stadium.

The Club will also strengthen security measures and increase police presence at Stade Saputo for our upcoming matches. These measures are being implemented to ensure the safety and security of fans, players, officials, employees, and everyone in attendance.

Any further incident will result in an escalation of sanctions that may include the closing of supporter sections. The Club will not hesitate to take any additional measures necessary to prevent further incidents and protect the safety of everyone at Stade Saputo.

Stade Saputo must remain a safe and welcoming environment for all. Passion, disappointment, and criticism are part of sport. Violence, vandalism, and behaviour that puts others at risk have no place at Stade Saputo.
