MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Friday that six players from the Academy will take part in the first team training camp, presented by Allstate.
Goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois, 18 years old, will participate in both portions of the camp, in Orlando and St. Petersburg. He was also invited to the 2019 training camp.
16-year-old defender Keesean Ferdinand and 16-year-old midfielder Tomas Giraldo will also be at the camp, in Orlando, from January 16 to 29. Both players represented Canada at the FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil in 2019. 15-year-old striker Jean-Aniel Assi will also be part of that portion of the camp. He took part in the 2019 Concacaf U15 Championship and was named on the best XI of the tournament.
Zachary Fernandez, defender, and midfielder Yannick Laurent, both 18 years old, will join the team for the second portion of the camp, starting on February 3.
After that final part, the Impact will fly directly from Florida to San José, Costa Rica, for the first leg of the Concacaf Champions League round of 16, on Wednesday, February 19, at 8pm EST, at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa (RDS, TSN). The second leg will be played on Wednesday, February 26, at 8pm EST, at Olympic Stadium.
All 2020 Members get a free ticket for the decisive game against Saprissa.
