Róbert Thorkelsson called up by Iceland's U21 team

MONTREAL - CF Montréal defender Róbert Thorkelsson has been called up to Iceland's U21 team ahead of two international friendly matches in June.

The Icelanders will embark on a two-game road trip against Austria's U21 team on June 16, before taking on Hungary on June 19.

He wore the U21 captain's armband for the first time on November 17 in a friendly against Scotland at Fir Park Stadium in Motherwell.

The 21-year-old defender has played eight games for CF Montréal this season, including two starts, for a total of 203 minutes. He has also appeared in two Canadian Championship games in 2023.
