MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced, on Monday, a two-year deal with News Talk Radio CJAD 800 to broadcast Impact games.
In 2012, all 17 home games will air live on English radio.
The CJAD broadcasters will also be in Vancouver this Saturday to call the Impact’s first game ever in Major League Soccer against the Whitecaps, starting at 6 pm (ET). The game will be preceded by a pre-game show at 5:30 PM.
“We are proud to be returning to the airwaves with CJAD and are pleased to have concluded this deal before our opening game in MLS,” said Impact president Joey Saputo.
“We would like to thank Joey Saputo for his vote of confidence in our station,” said CJAD 800 Vice President and General Manager Martin Spalding. “With the growth of soccer in North America, we are thrilled to be partnering with the Impact and Major League Soccer.”
CJAD will also broadcast the home opener at Olympic Stadium on Saturday, March 17, at 2pm ET against the Chicago Fire, as well as the games against Ontario rivals Toronto FC on April 7 and June 27, as well as the game against the LA Galaxy and stars David Beckham, Robbie Keane and Landon Donovan on May 12.
In addition, the games against the New York Red Bulls and star player Thierry Henry on May 9 and July 28, the game on June 23 against the Houston Dynamo, with forward Brian Ching and Quebec defender Andre Hainault in its ranks, as well as the match versus DC United and Canadian international Dwayne De Rosario, who was also named league MVP last season, on August 25, will be broadcast on CJAD.
The voice of the Impact on CJAD 800 will be Rick Moffat on play-by-play and former player Grant Needham as analyst.
CJAD Sports will guarantee a complete coverage of the Impact all season long via its sports reports, on sports talk show entitled “The Locker Room with Abe Hefter” (weekends at 6 PM), and on the Montreal Impact page on CJAD.com.
Sister stations CHOM 97 7 and Virgin Radio 96 are also promotional partners with the Impact.
