MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Friday that it waived midfielder Issey Nakajima-Farran, which could only be made official once MLS added his name to its waiver list.

“With the number of additions we’ve made to our squad over the course of the offseason, we had to make this decision in order to give us some flexibility with our salary cap,” said Impact technical director Adam Braz. “We would like to thank Issey for his service to the club and we wish him the best of luck.”

The 2015 training camp will begin on Friday, January 23. The team will train in Montreal for two weeks before heading to Mexico on February 8, in order to continue its camp in preparation for the first game of the home and away Champions League series against Mexican club Pachuca, on February 24, at 10pm ET (TVA Sports) in Mexico. The return leg of this important aggregate goal matchup will be played on the following Tuesday, March 3, at Olympic Stadium (ticketmaster.ca).
