The Montreal Impact announced on Monday that it has come to terms on a new one-year deal, with an option for 2021, with Homegrown striker Anthony Jackson-Hamel.

“We are happy that Anthony, a Homegrown player who has already played many seasons in MLS, is back with the Impact,” said Impact sporting director Olivier Renard. “We had good talks with him and he accepts the project we proposed. He knows what to do so that this new deal is beneficial for both himself and the club.”

Jackson-Hamel, 26, has played the last six seasons with the Impact in MLS, scoring 15 goals while adding four assists in 72 regular season games, including 25 starts, and 2,794 minutes. He helped the club win the 2019 Canadian Championship last September 25, scoring one goal in his lone start in the tournament, in the semifinals against Cavalry FC.

He became the seventh Academy player to sign an MLS professional deal on August 1, 2014. He scored his first goal with the first team on August 12, 2015, against Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the first leg of the Canadian Championship final, and his first MLS goal on March 12, 2016, against the New York Red Bulls. He also featured in the 2015 MLS Homegrown Game.

Originally from Limoilou, in Quebec City, Jackson-Hamel joined the Impact Academy in 2010, playing for the U21s before the team entered the PDL and then for the U23 side. He helped the Impact U21s reach the final of the CSL in 2012.

At the international level, Jackson-Hamel has three goals and two assists in nine games with the Canadian national team, making his senior debut in a friendly against Mauritania on October 6, 2016. He made three appearances at the 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup. He scored his first international goal on January 22, 2017, in a friendly against Bermuda. He had previously played five games with the Canadian U23 national team at the 2015 Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
