MONTREAL – Montreal Impact striker Didier Drogba was named MLS Player of the Month for October, following a fan vote on MLSsoccer.com, for a second consecutive month.

Drogba recorded four goals in five games (four starts) this past month, helping the Bleu-blanc-noir win its last three straight games to secure the third seed in the Eastern Conference and a home date for the playoff Knockout Round against Toronto FC on Thursday.

In just his second month in MLS, Drogba was named to the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Week once and was nominated for the MLS AT&T Goal of the Week once. He was also selected as the Videotron mobile Player of the Game on two occasions.

Drogba scored two goals in less than two minutes in his team’s 2-1 win over TFC, bringing his total to 11 goals in 11 MLS games, 9 starts, since joining the club. The Ivorian has scored in his last five consecutive home games.

The Impact hosts Toronto FC at Stade Saputo on Thursday night, at 7pm, in its first ever home playoff game (RDS, TSN, 98.5fm, CJAD 800). The club announced Tuesday that it has sold 15,000 tickets in just two days for the rivalry matchup and some good tickets still remain via ticketmaster.ca.
