Chinonso Offor loaned to Belgian club SV Zulte Waregem

MONTREAL – CF Montréal announced Wednesday the loan of forward Chinonso Offor (pronounced Chee-none-soh Oh-for) to Belgian first division club SV Zulte Waregem until June 30, 2023. As of January 31, Zulte will have the option to buy the player. If he is not transferred, CF Montréal will be able to terminate the loan and recall Offor as of February 1, 2023.

The Club acquired Offor on August 5 from the Chicago Fire in return for $325,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money. The 22-year-old Nigerian has played seven games this season in MLS, including three as a starter, scoring one goal in 268 minutes with Chicago. Last season, he played in all 34 games for the Fire, including 11 starts, collecting one goal and two assists in 1,307 minutes. Offor was acquired by the Fire on November 13, 2020, via a transfer from FK Rigas Futbola Skola, a first division club in Latvia, where he scored 16 goals in 40 games (all competitions). Offor began his professional career in 2019 with BFC Daugavpils, scoring 10 goals in 23 games, 22 of which he featured in the starting XI.
