CF Montréal to begin the defense of its Canadian Championship title at Stade Saputo

MONTREAL – Following Canada Soccer’s official draw for the 2022 Canadian Championship held Wednesday night, CF Montréal will begin the defence of its title at Stade Saputo between May 24 and 26.

With a bye to the quarterfinals, CF Montréal will face the winner of the preliminary round match between Forge FC of the Canadian Premier League and CS Mont-Royal Outremont, the 2021 champion of the Première ligue de soccer du Québec (PLSQ).

Three clubs will receive byes to the quarterfinals: CF Montreal (2021 champion), Pacific FC (2021 Canadian Premier League champion) and Toronto FC (2021 finalist). The preliminary round will be played between May 10 and 12 while the quarterfinals will take place between May 24 and 26. The semifinals are scheduled between June 21 and 23 with the final to be played in July.

The winning club of the 2022 Canadian Championship will lift the Voyageurs Cup and qualify for the 2023 Concacaf Champions League. The winners of the Concacaf Champions League will then qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup.
