MONTRÉAL – CF Montréal announced today the signing of Chilean international forward Alexis Sánchez as a Designated Player. A two-time Copa América champion with Chile, Sánchez has played for FC Barcelona, Arsenal FC, Manchester United, Inter Milan and Olympique de Marseille. He has signed with the Club through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season. The agreement includes a club option for the 2027-28 season.
"The arrival of Alexis Sánchez represents an important step in our sporting project," said CF Montréal Senior Director, Recruitment and Sporting Methodology Luca Saputo. "Alexis possesses exceptional technical quality and experience at the highest level of world football. His personality, leadership and competitive mindset fully align with our club’s identity and ambitions. We are of firm belief that he will have an immediate impact both on the field and in the locker room."
"I am very happy to join CF Montréal and take on this new challenge," said Sánchez. "I’m grateful to the Club for the confidence they’ve shown in me and I’m eager to put my experience to work so that we can reach our objectives and create memorable moments for our supporters. I’m here to give everything I have for the Club and for this city."
One of the most decorated players in Chilean football history, Sánchez spent the 2025-26 season in La Liga with Sevilla FC. He recorded four goals and two assists in 30 appearances across all competitions.
The first Chilean player to join FC Barcelona in 2011, Sanchez helped the club win the Supercopa de España, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. He added a Copa del Rey title in 2012, as well as a La Liga championship and another Supercopa de España title in 2013.
In 2014, Sanchez joined Arsenal where he won the FA Cup in 2015 and 2017, along with three FA Community Shield titles (2014, 2015, 2017) with the Gunners.
