MONTREAL – CF Montréal selected on Tuesday defender Grayson Doody (UCLA) with the 10th pick of the first round, defender Malik Henry (Akron University) with the 10th pick of the second round (39th overall), as well as forward Eli Conway (University of Connecticut) with the 10th pick (68th overall) and midfielder Carson Hodgson (Western Michigan University) with the 28th pick (86th overall) of the third round, as part of the 2024 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas.
Doody played 18 games in 2023, all as a starter, where he helped the Bruins win the Pac-12 title. The defender logged 4,932 minutes, three goals and six assists in four seasons. Playing primarily as a right-sided defender, Doody also spent time with the LA Galaxy Academy before moving up through the American college ranks. Academically, the Hermosa Beach, California, native was named to the UCLA Director’s Honor Roll six times.
Henry played 14 games, 13 as a starter, and registered four assists with the Zips in 2023. The Hamilton, Ontario, native spent the last three seasons at the University of Akron after transferring from the University of North Carolina, where he played in his freshman year. Henry also went through the Toronto FC Academy. He also has a youth callup with the Canadian U15 national team at the 2017 Concacaf Boys’ U15 Championship.
Conway scored three goals and added three assists in 18 games for the Huskies in 2023. The sophomore forward from Mount Olive, New Jersey, also played for the New York Red Bulls Academy between 2019 and 2021.
A native of Macomb, Michigan, Hodgson played 22 games in 2023, starting all of them. In his second season with the Broncos, he collected eight goals and 11 assists. He won the Mid-American Conference's freshman of the year award in 2022.
