CF Montréal returns to Stade Saputo on Saturday

Special theme nights planned for each match of the Club’s 30th anniversary season

MONTREAL – Following five road games and one at Olympic Stadium, CF Montréal will finally return to Stade Saputo this Saturday at 7:30pm for its first game of the 2023 MLS season, presented by BMO, against D.C. United and its head coach Wayne Rooney.

Tickets for the game can be purchased HERE.

In celebration of its 30th anniversary this season, the Club will be organizing different theme nights for each of its home games and the number 30 will be blended into match themes, promotions, and contests.

The main celebration match to commemorate the 30 years of the Club will be played on Saturday, May 13 at 7:30pm at Stade Saputo, against rivals Toronto FC, 30 years after the very first match in the Club’s history, in Los Angeles, on May 14, 1993.

“We have been developing soccer and giving back to the community for 30 years. It is a credit to the Saputo family, especially Joey, who has been a visionary and has invested in our sport. This anniversary is a celebration and recognition of all that has been done for soccer in Montreal since 1993,” said CF Montréal President and CEO Gabriel Gervais. “We will have the opportunity to highlight our history with various initiatives that will commemorate our fondest memories and most history-making moments.”

As part of the May 13 festivities, former players of the Club will be present, as well as personalities who have collaborated to Montreal’s soccer history. In addition, beginning on this date, limited edition custom beer cans in the Club's colours, specially designed to commemorate the 30th anniversary, will be on sale at Stade Saputo in limited quantities.

Throughout the 2023 season, the Club will proudly tell its story, celebrate its key moments, and underscore its involvement in the community. To that end, a new timeline will be displayed in the concourse of Stade Saputo to highlight several key events in its history. In addition, the tunnel leading to the locker rooms will also be redesigned to highlight the 30 years of the Club. A series of highlight videos will also be made available on the Apple MLS Season Pass platform.

Following last year's successful event at Complexe Claude-Robillard, CF Montréal will host a Legends Match this summer featuring former Club players. More details will be revealed at a later date.

After Gabriel Gervais, Nevio Pizzolitto, Greg Sutton and Mauro Biello, a fifth former player will be inducted into the Club's Wall of Fame on Saturday, May 6.
