MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced Tuesday the acquisition of defender Ruan and $500,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money from D.C. United in return for defender Aaron Herrera.

I'd also like to thank Aaron for his 2023 season with us, and we wish him all the best for the rest of his career.”
Ruan, 28, played 24 games with D.C. in 2023, including 15 as a starter, collecting six assists in 1,425 minutes of play. Before joining D.C. United, the Brazilian spent four seasons in southern Florida with Orlando City SC, where he lifted the U.S. Open Cup in 2022.
He has logged a total of 125 MLS regular-season games, including 16 starts, and 9,474 minutes, registering four goals and 21 assists. He also played three MLS Cup playoff games with Orlando, 11 U.S. Open Cup and three Leagues Cup matches in 2023.
In 2023 with CF Montréal, Aaron Herrera played 19 games, including 16 starts, and 1,410 minutes of play.
