MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced on Monday the acquisition of defender Raheem Edwards from the LA Galaxy, in return for $400,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money.
“We're delighted to welcome Raheem back to Montreal, as he already knows the Club and the city well," said CF Montréal Vice President and Chief Sporting Officer Olivier Renard. “We are proud to add another Canadian player to strengthen our squad. Over the past few seasons, he has demonstrated his qualities as a left-back and he will be able to help us in this position, whether in a 4 or 5-man back line, next season."
The 28-year-old Edwards played 30 games for the Galaxy in MLS in 2023, collecting two goals and four assists in 1,875 minutes of play. This past season, he also played two Leagues Cup games and three U.S. Open Cup games.
This is the Toronto native's second stint in Montreal. Edwards played 14 games, collecting two goals, in 808 minutes with the Club during the 2018 season.
Edwards totals eight goals and 23 assists in 152 career MLS games. He also lifted MLS Cup and the Supporters' Shield in 2017, as well as two Canadian Championship titles in 2016 and 2017.
