MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Thursday that former star defender Alessandro Nesta has joined the technical staff as a consultant.
“Alessandro knows the players well, the coaching staff and the philosophy of our club,” declared Sporting Director Nick De Santis. “He’ll help the coaching staff throughout the season, principally as a video analyst, providing scouting reports on our games and those of our opponents. We hope that this experience will be beneficial for him, knowing that he wants to become a head coach.”
Following a brilliant career that spanned 19 seasons in Italy, Nesta played two seasons in MLS in an Impact uniform. He played his final game as a professional on October 24, 2013.
Nesta is considered one of the best central defenders of all-time.
