Impact eager to bounce back following loss in Philadelphia
We’re now right in the middle of another busy week for the Impact. After suffering a 3-0 loss in Philadelphia last Saturday, Rémi Garde’s men will be eager to bounce back Wednesday night against the New England Revolution at 7:30pm (TVA Sports, TSN, 98.5, TSN 690), before returning home and playing their second home game of the season, this Sunday at 12:30pm against the Chicago Fire. Excellent tickets for Sunday’s game remain available on impactmontreal.com.
The last time the Impact played a midweek game this season, just over two weeks ago against D.C. United in Washington, the team managed an impressive scoreless draw. Whether or not head coach Rémi Garde will make changes to his starting 11, as he did in the American capital, remains unknown.
“What I see in my players’ performances and what I see on the field are what I base myself on,” said Impact head coach Rémi Garde. “If I don’t do so, the team’s mental balance is put into question. What’s important to me is that my players have good games. The rest, we have no control over. But my best players need to be on the pitch.”
The game at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday evening will mark the team’s eighth road trip this year, nearly half of the 17 games played on the road during an MLS regular season. It’s a difficult situation to handle, to say the least, despite the team having managed two wins, two draws, and three losses up to now away from home.
“I don’t want to minimize the fact that this is a special situation to handle,” emphasized Garde. “It requires a certain level of mentality. We can’t forget that some players are also travelling for their national teams. All of this is demanding. But we’re not letting it affect the team’s cohesion. It’s too important. In our last game, we didn’t do things as well as we usually do.”
The Impact will play two consecutive games at Stade Saputo for the first time this season after its visit to Massachusetts, starting with a matchup against the Chicago Fire on Sunday, April 28 at 12:30pm (TICKETS – TVA Sports, 98.5, TSN 690). Excellent tickets for Sunday’s game are still available, as well as season or partial memberships on impactmontreal.com. The Impact recommends adequately planning your transport, using public transportation and arriving early. Stade Saputo’s doors will open at 10:30am to allow you to enjoy the atmosphere and take advantage of numerous activities in the stadium’s corridors. From 10:30 to 11:30am, the classic 2-for-1 on all drink will be in place. Also, don’t miss our new pregame ritual, during which supporters can welcome players in Stade Saputo’s North grandstand, 90 minutes before kickoff. Montreal will then host New York City FC on Saturday, May 4 at 5pm, for a second game in a month against the Citizens (TICKETS – TVA Sports, 98.5, TSN 690).
