The Bleu-blanc-noir’s finalist for MLS WORKS’ community MVP contest
The Montreal Impact’s representative for MLS WORKS’ Community MVP contest has been revealed, and it’s Eric Fusinato.

Eric Fusinato is an ethics and religious culture teacher at Honoré-Mercier High School, in the Ville-Émard-Pointe Saint-Charles neighbourhood, and has been for the past 18 years. He is well-known around his school as he is very involved: he helps students with learning deficiencies, he started a breakfast program and he organizes cultural trips in Italy.
In his Saint-Lazare community, Eric coaches five youth teams of the St-Lazard-Hudson soccer club. Not only focused on getting his young players to run and kick the ball around, he also pushes his team to have an impact in their community by doing volunteer work for the Christmas food collection, by taking part in a soccer program for children with special needs in collaboration with Special Olympics Quebec and by helping fill sand bags during the spring floods that devastated the region in 2017. Eric is also a volunteer on the board of directors of two schools in Saint-Lazare.
Eric hopes that his pupils and players know what is happening around them by making them aware of today’s realities. By nurturing tomorrow’s leaders, in the classroom as much as on the pitch, he has an important impact in his community. Through all his actions, Eric is a great example to follow for his two sons and a lot of children around him.
This contest, which aims to reward community involvement and leadership through soccer, will allow the winner across all MLS clubs to give $25,000 to the charity organization of his or her choice.
Eric will be attending the MLS All-Star Game, in Atlanta, on August 1.
