Algerian international has three goals after four games

Remember last year’s Videotron Player of the Month standings? Well, they’re BACK in 2019, and now that the first month of action is over, it’s time to see who’s leading.

For those who need reminding, every game (almost), the Montreal Impact asks you, the supporters, to pick your Videotron Man of the Match through our mobile app. It’s always a choice between three Impact players who are having a good game, and the winner is announced once the game is over.

For our standings, the winner of the Videotron Man of the Match earns five points, whoever finishes second gets two points, and the player who finishes third gets one point.

Here are the standings so far in 2019:

Algerian international Saphir Taïder, with three goals, including the winner against San Jose, and an assist thus far through four games, leads his teammates with eight points, while Samuel Piette and Ignacio Piatti lurk closely behind him with five points apiece.

The Designated Player is tied for fifth in MLS for goals scored and ranks third in the Audi Player Index, behind Carlos Vela and MLS newcomer Alejandro Pozuelo, who only played one game.

Last year, it was goalkeeper Evan Bush taking the honours, finishing the year with 51 points, with Samuel Piette finishing second and Piatti third. Will we see a new winner this year? Keep a lookout for an updated version of these standings in a month’s time.
