The Videotron Man of the Month of June

The month of June included a large three-week break for Rémi Garde’s men, but there were still four games on the schedule. With injuries piling up and many players gone to represent their respective countries, it was a collective effort that allowed Montreal to manage two wins and two losses, putting the difficult period behind them as most players have returned from international duty.

But it was Designated Player Saphir Taïder that had the biggest impact, on and off the pitch. Against Seattle, the Algerian rallied his troops before the game with a thunderous speech, before scoring two goals after the Impact had conceded, en route to a 2-1 win.

Taïder played the full 90 minutes in every game this month, notching an assist as well in the game against Portland on Orji Okwonkwo’s second goal.

Of course, a special mention must be made for Okwonkwo as well, who led the Impact past the Timbers with two goals of his own, including this stunner below. Shamit Shome also continues his climb up the standings, playing all four games this month, including three as a starter.
