Videotron Man of the match: Samuel Piette is trending upwards

Every game, the Montreal Impact asks you, the supporters, to pick your Videotron Man of the Match through our mobile app. It’s always a choice between three Impact players who are having a good game, and the winner is announced once the game is over.

There are a few new faces making a first appearance after the month of May, which featured a total of five MLS games for the Bleu-blanc-noir. Marco Donadel earned himself a third-place finish in the game against LA Galaxy for his performance at centre-back, and breaks into the table for the first time. Edwards had himself quite a month, earning the Man of the Match against the Galaxy, and another second-place finish against Minnesota.

Evan Bush, who leads the league with 64 saves, and Ignacio Piatti, who leads the team with five goals and six assists, continued adding points to the bank and both now sit tied in first place with 16 points apiece, officially dethroning Jeisson Vargas, who held the top of the table for the first two months.

But there’s only one winner in May, and that’s Samuel Piette. The young Québécois turned in an incredible 12 points, thanks to two Videotron Man of the Match selections, and another second-place finish. He now sits in fourth with 14 points, just two behind our leaders.

For our standings, the winner of the Videotron Man of the Match earns five points, whoever finishes second gets two points, and the player who finishes third gets one point.
