Videotron man of the match: Samuel Piette leads with a month left

Every game, the Montreal Impact asks you to pick your Videotron Man of the Match through our mobile app. It’s always a choice between three Impact players who are having a good game, and the winner is announced once the game is over.

At the end of last month, we had a tie for first place after goalkeeper Evan Bush put up quite the performance, earning back to back Videotron Man of the Match wins. This month, it’s midfielder Samuel Piette that regains sole possession of first place, with an eight-point gain through four games.

The man who has started every game for the Bleu-blanc-noir this season, breaking an old club record, continues to be an essential part of the Impact’s defensive system in midfield. His six Videotron Man of the match wins this season puts him on par with Bush with three games left to go.

Speaking about consistency, Rod Fanni has been slowly climbing up the table since the beginning of the season, constantly racking up nominations to the point that he’s now tied for third in the standings with Ignacio Piatti. Only the leader, Samuel Piette, was nominated more times than the former French international.

We also had a new face join this month: striker Quincy Amarikwa has had a positive influence on the group since joining on deadline day, even netting his first goal with the club in its 4-1 victory over Philadelphia. Alejandro Silva, on his end, earned Man of the match for the first time after scoring a key brace in Philly, giving him a good gain this month.

For our standings, the winner of the Videotron Man of the Match earns five points, whoever finishes second gets two points, and the player who finishes third gets one point.
