Biking, running, soccer, sleep, repeat
Time is flying. It’s already been three days since the Montreal Impact touched down in the Sunshine State, and players are quickly getting back in form. The past two days have been fairly similar. For those on the team who weren’t familiar with fitness coach Robert Duverne, they definitely got to know him a little better since they touched down in Florida.
The day starts at 7:15am sharp, when the players must be on the bus heading to a lake nearby. Here, everyone gets on a bike and goes around the lake twice, about 11km in all. Then, we go back to the hotel for a quick breakfast, and it’s back to the lake at 9:30am. This time, there won’t be bikes involved, just running.
After this gruelling session, we eat lunch. Depending on their needs, some players head to the therapy room, others may try the pool, while some do media interviews.
The last session of the day starts at 4pm. Now, there’s soccer balls involved. Not for too long, though, just a little over an hour. But they’re intense, and it’s during these sessions that Garde expects the quality to be high.
Then, back to the hotel for supper and sleep. We go again tomorrow.
