Top storylines for Saturday's game against Sporting KC

Justin Mapp vs Sporting KC 2014

With Sporting Kansas City in town this weekend, the Impact gets a chance to avenge a loss from earlier this season as the brewing rivalry continues to grow between these two blue-clad clubs. Here are some of the stories you should follow as KC comes to Stade Saputo this Saturday.

1. Revenge

How do you approach a game in which your opponent dominated the previous outing, winning 4-0? The only way you can, with the thought of avenging an embarrassing 4-0 loss three weeks ago at Sporting Park, especially since the Impact had a solid first half in that game. An unfortunate own goal led to the team’s demise.

2. Tough test

This matchup will also help show what the team is made of as the Impact takes on the Eastern Conference’s top team. After a tough start to the year, can the Impact build on its first win of the season from two weeks ago – a 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union?

3. Who will score?

Marco Di Vaio scored in his first game this season following his three-game suspension to start the campaign, but has gone goalless in the following four games since. Forward Jack McInerney scored in his first game wearing the Impact uniform, but has not bulged the twine over the last two matches.

4. Return from the infirmary?

With a number of players close to full recovery from injury, which of the previously sidelined players will find the starting XI? Sanna Nyassi…Adrian Lopez…Nelson Rivas…Hernan Bernardello…?
