Roster update for Tuesday’s game

Four players back in the line-up

It’ll be a quick turnaround for the Impact, who gets set to take on Toronto FC for the second time in five days, this time at BMO Field in Toronto on Tuesday, September 1, at 8pm.

Despite a 1-0 loss in the first game at Stade Saputo, the Impact can rejoice in the fact that many of its players suffering from small injuries and who had to miss the game last Friday will be back in the squad this time around.

That includes Bojan, who was out with an adductor injury, and Anthony Jackson-Hamel, who suffered a small knee injury.

“It’ll be a lot better to turn around and see more offensive options on the bench,” said head coach Thierry Henry. “Last time they were a little scarcer, but we made do with what we had. Sam and Saphir’s return will help us a lot as well.”

Thierry Henry’s men had to fare without an extremely important part of their midfield against Toronto FC last Friday: Samuel Piette and Saphir Taïder, who have, together, started almost every game this year for the Impact, were both left out of the 18 due to their spouses having given birth on the same day.

They will both be available to take on Toronto FC at BMO Field on Tuesday.

“We missed their experience,” said Impact midfielder Victor Wanyama. “They know the league and this team very well and that’s useful on the pitch. But I believe that the guys who stepped up did a good job and played Toronto quite well.”

Maxi Urruti, who suffered an injury in the last game against Toronto, will not be available.
