Reserve League: Impact 3-2 falls to Chicago Fire

Maxim Tissot reserve league vs Chicago Fire

BRIDGEVIEW, Illinois - In its 10th game of the Reserve League season, the Montreal Impact fell 3-2 to the Chicago Fire, Sunday morning, at the Toyota Park training facility. Forward Daniele Paponi scored a brace in the loss.

The Impact opened the scoring in the 5th minute when midfielder Andrea Pisanu played a through ball for Paponi behind the Fire defenders. Goalkeeper Alec Kann stopped the Italian striker's first attempt, but Paponi pounced on his own rebound to score in an empty net.

Paponi scored his second in the 17th minute after taking a pass by Zakaria Messoudi. The former Bologna man took a quick shot from inside the box that curved inside the post before hitting the back of the net.

The Fire then scored two quick goals to tie the game. Quincy Amarikwa scored his first in the 22nd minute, and then five minutes later, he scored a second by redirecting a Daniel Paladini free-kick, again with his head.

Chicago then found the game winner in the 61st minute. Midfielder Corben Bone dribbled down the left flank before playing Maicon Santos, who beat keeper Evan Bush from six-yards out.

Bush came up with a big stop in the 3rd minute off of a free-kick by Paladini from about 25 yards out, then in the 40th minute, he dove to his left to knock down a blistering shot by Joel Lindpere.

"It was a great experience for our young Academy players who lined up against a solid side made up of only pros," said assistant coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "The youngsters got a taste of the next level all while taking part in a positive experience. We saw good quality of play from the group, but we unfortunately gave up three goals today."
