Re-Entry Draft: Who are the biggest names available?

Dwayne De Rosario DC United

With the list of players available for the MLS Re-Entry Draft being unveiled on Monday, a number of high level talent is up for grabs, including two former MLS MVPs, this Thursday at 3pm ET.

Without considering hefty salaries, DP or international spots, Impact Media compiled a list of the biggest names available.

David Ferreira, Midfielder

Signed with FC Dallas on loan from Atletico Paranaense on Feb. 28, 2009, Ferreira was named Major League Soccer’s MVP at the end of the 2010 season, after scoring eight goals and adding 13 assists. Injuries had sidelined the 34-year-old Colombian international in 2011 and 2012, but he returned in 2013 to make 30 appearances (26 starts), scoring three goals and adding 13 assists.

Dwayne De Rosario, Midfielder/Forward

The all-time leading scorer in Canadian national team history is coming off of a disappointing campaign that saw him play just 24 games (17 starts), scoring three times and assisting on two others. In 2011, D.C.’s DP won the golden boot and was named the league’s MVP with 16 goals. The 2012 season was another great year at D.C. as the former MLS Cup winner scored seven times and had 12 assists on the year. In 15 MLS seasons, the 35-year-old has amassed 103 goals and added 77 assists.

UPDATE:Mauro Rosales traded to Chivas USA
Mauro Rosales, Midfielder

At 33, Rosales still has a couple of good seasons left in a career in which he was capped 10 times by the Argentine national soccer team alongside the likes of Lionel Messi. A premiere setup man in MLS, the former Sounders DP has amassed 12 goals and 33 assists in just three seasons in MLS and was named MLS Newcomer of the Year in 2011.

Kenny Cooper, Forward

The former U.S. international is just one season removed from scoring 18 goals in MLS with the New York Red Bulls, before managing just six with FC Dallas in 2013. The 29-year-old still has a lot of good years left over a career in which he’s already scored 72 goals in 188 appearances in MLS and is an imposing figure up top at 6’3” and 210 lbs.

Chris Rolfe, Forward

Long-time fan favorite in Chicago Chris Rolfe, 30, made his return to the Fire in 2012 after three seasons with Danish Superliga side Aalborg BK. He led the Fire to their first post-season appearance since 2009. Rolfe was named the club’s 2012 Most Valuable Player and won the club’s Golden Boot for his eight goals and three assists in just 22 games played. Despite a difficult 2013 season, Rolfe does have some good weapons with his speed and versatility. He’s scored 48 goals in 176 league appearances, adding 22 assists.
