Pregame – Orlando v Montréal

Montreal kicks off road sequence with game in Orlando

CF Montréal will play its next four games on the road, starting with a match against Orlando City SC, this Wednesday night at 7:30pm at Exploria Stadium (TVA Sports, 91,9 Sports, TSN 690).

There are now just five games left to play in the regular season, and CF Montréal finds itself right inside the playoff picture, currently in seventh. But there are just two small points separating fifth from ninth, and just four points separating CF Montréal from their next opponent, currently in fourth.

That being said, Montreal still holds its faith in its own hands as it heads into this final playoff push.

“I was telling the guys, remember where we started and where we’re from,” said head coach Wilfried Nancy. “Thanks to that, we’re savouring these moments. We’re excited. I can’t wait. I can’t wait to see as a coach if we can muster our emotions and stay focused on the task at hand. I can’t wait to see if they’ll assume that pressure, which I love.”

Montreal got the better of Orlando City SC the last time these two met at Exploria Stadium a month ago, Wilfried Nancy’s men emerging victorious with a dominant 4-2 win. It marked just the second time Orlando fell at home this season, and they haven’t lost a game in Orlando since then.

“I really liked our last game in Orlando,” said Nancy. “It isn’t easy to play there. There were a few phases of play that were super interesting in terms of what we’re trying to do, and in line with what we accomplished in our last game against Philadelphia. But careful, because Orlando did not at all appreciate being beaten by us. They’ll be motivated, but so will we. We’ll need to repeat that type of high-level performance to come home with all three points.”

Head coach Oscar Pareja’s men have won their last two games but have struggled with consistency this season. They’ll be looking for their third consecutive win this Wednesday, a feat they’ve achieved once before this season.

Montreal will then travel back to Canada to take on Toronto this Saturday at BMO Field, before switching gears to focus on the semi-final of the Canadian Championship the following Wednesday against Forge FC of the Canadian Premier League.
