Intense practice welcomed by Impact players
The Impact was back on the pitch Wednesday, in preparation for its game on Saturday against the New England Revolution (TICKETS). For the first time this year, the sun was shining bright over Centre Nutrilait, and the group took advantage of it to put on a sweat.
“The intensity was really good,” said midfielder Raheem Edwards. “Guys are really getting motivated by what’s been happening recently. We want to come here on Saturday and give the supporters a good result. They’re dying for a win and so are we.”
The Impact is hopefully at the end of a difficult stretch that has led to four consecutive losses. Despite the scenario, the Bleu-blanc-noir is focusing on the positive aspects shown in each performance, while working hard during the week to eliminate the negative.
“We know there’s a lot to build on from last game,” said defender Chris Duvall. “Things are positive. The work ethic at training was great. It was very competitive, and I think guys are really getting after it to prove something. We have a little bit of a chip on our shoulder, which I think is something that may have been missing.”
It’ll be a busy month of May for the Bleu-blanc-noir with five games on the schedule, although three of them will be at Stade Saputo, a welcome change to all the away games the team has had to play to start the season. The mindset in the Impact locker room is clear: we need points.
“We’re professional footballers,” added Raheem. “We want to win games. It’s on us as players, not just the coaches, to try to win every game. The spirits are good, and we’ll be coming in Saturday looking for the win.”
