Every team has a few players that they count on for consistency and leadership. Here are the three players that help make the Revs tick.
WATCH: Nguyen's long-rang goal vs MTL
1) Saer Sene: The 6’3 French striker has been an imposing figure at the top of New England’s attack in his first season in MLS. He has scored nine goals in 20 appearances, which has him tied for eight in league scoring, and he is in the top 10 in the league in attempts on goal. His last marker won Goal of the Week honours. 2) Lee Nguyen has been a key cog in the Revs midfield since he was acquired from the Vancouver Whitecaps FC on waivers. He’s scored four goals this season, including the lone goal the Revs scored in Montreal in a 2-1 loss. He fired a spectacular shot from 40 yards out that dipped off the crossbar, and went in off of Impact goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts.
3) With former captain Shalrie Joseph shipped off to Chivas USA last week, goalkeeper Matt Reis becomes the Revs longest serving player at 10 seasons. The MLS Cup winner has been a stalwart between the posts for the Revs in 2012, placing in the top 10 in saves, shots faced and save percentage. He was voted the 2011 Revolution MVP by the fans.
These three Revolution-ists will be players to watch come Sunday night as the Impact looks to win its second game on the road, at Gillette Stadium.
