Argentine becomes ninth-fastest player in league history to join “100 club”
Montrealers have known how special Nacho is since he first hit the pitch at Stade Saputo, on a hot August day in 2014 against the Chicago Fire. Two weeks later, in his first full game for the Bleu-blanc-noir, he scored both goals, his first and second in an Impact uniform, in a 2-0 win over the Columbus Crew SC at Stade Saputo.
It was the beginning of a long love affair between the Impact supporters and the Argentine magician.
Those two goals were followed by many more over the past few years, most of them leaving people in the stands in awe. His brace against Orlando City SC last weekend brings the Designated Player’s total to 66 goals. With the 34 assists he’s added during his MLS career as well, it officially brings Piatti to 100 combined goals and assists in regular-season play.
The milestone means Piatti becomes just the 44th player in MLS history to reach the MLS “100 club”, and the ninth fastest, doing it in just 127 appearances.
The Argentine’s numbers also mean he leads the Impact in most goals and most assists in MLS, while he most recently tied Hassoun Camara in first place for most games started during the regular season. He’s also just a few minutes away from passing Camara in most minutes played for the club in MLS history.
The man from General Baldissera, in Argentina, has truly cemented himself as one best players in the history of MLS, with hopefully lots more to come.
