LyesMTL’s online diary - Day 2

LYESMTL-JOURNAL

Ranked third, he’ll face HekTicJukeZ from the Chicago Fire in the quarters

Friday was another good day for me at PAX East. My first game was at noon against Doolsta from the Philadelphia Union. I started well with two quick goals and a 2-1 victory, but nothing was working in the second game. Sometimes, FIFA can be cruel: I lost 5-0, but it was not an especially bad game on my end…in the end, we don’t forget, we learn and it’s on to the next one.

After the lunch break, I played two games against PhillB94 from Toronto FC. That’s when I truly understood the extent of the rivalry between the Impact and TFC. The tension was palpable even through a video game. Both games were intense and tight, and finished with two draws. I could possibly meet him again in semifinal play, and I know he’ll be a tough opponent. Of course, I need to get through the quarterfinal first.

The leader in the East after the first day was to be my next opponent. SKAMZZ1992 from the Columbus Crew SC and I were already qualified for the quarterfinals and we were fighting for a better position in the standings. I won the first game and the second finished 0-0, but I dominated the 180 virtual minutes against him and I had great scoring opportunities.

My day finished with two games against FIFA Abe from Orlando City SC. He was near the bottom of the standings after Thursday, but managed to turn things around and qualify for the quarterfinals. The first game was rather easy and I won 3-0. I knew that one more victory and a result for Doolsta against PhillB94 would allow me to finish second in the Conference. I was leading 2-1 at the half, but a lucky goal for Abe levelled the game and I couldn’t provide the finishing touches on my chances near the end of the game. Unfortunate, because it finished 2-2 between Philadelphia and Toronto. Finishing third is still great and it means I’ll face HeKTicJukez in the quarter-finals.

Last night, we had the opportunity to go watch the Impact’s first team play against the New England Revolution. Yes, it was a tough loss, but there’s still plenty of soccer to be played. I’m looking forward to my next game at Stade Saputo.

Saturday, I’ll have a maximum of two games on the schedule: the quarterfinal against the Chicago Fire and the Eastern Conference semifinal. I’m staying calm and I know that the road to the eMLS Cup is difficult, but I’m confident in my abilities.
