MONTREAL - CF Montréal drew 1-1 with FC Cincinnati on Wednesday evening at Stade Saputo.
Mahala Opoku scored the first goal of the match with a shot from outside the box in the 53rd minute, before Cincinnati equalized in added time from a Luciano Acosta penalty (90'+6).
CF Montréal will play its next match this Saturday away to Atlanta United FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium at 7:30pm (MLS Season Pass, BPM Sports, CJAD 800).
MATCH NOTE:
-It was Opoku's third career-goal with CF Montréal and his fifth of the season.

Cincinnati was very organized defensively. The players who came on in the second half got the job done. But there are still five games to go. We're still in eighth place. It's up to us to preserve that position now.”

“When you go toe-to-toe with the best team in the league, you have to take some pride in that. We’ve learned a lot in the last year. We came in with the right mentality. But it is bittersweet to drop points. For us, it was about staying solid defensively. Cincinnati has a lot of good players so we wanted to stay compact. We had good chances in the second half. Cincinnati tried to punish us in transition. We’ve had a lot of discussions as a back-three to make sure we preserve the clean sheets. We pride ourselves on making sure we give this team a chance to win every game.”
