MONTREAL – CF Montréal lost 0-1 against Charlotte FC in its home opener on Saturday night at Stade Saputo. Charlotte scored in the 16th minute with a goal from Pep Biel. The Club recorded 19 shots during the match, a season high. Fans at Stade Saputo witnessed the debut of newcomers Hennadii Synchuk, Giacomo Vrioni, and Jalen Neal in Montreal's uniform.

🎙 Post-match comments from interim head coach Marco Donadel and Samuel Piette:

MARCO DONADEL "We tried everything. If we had been a bit luckier, we could have scored four or five goals. We gave everything on the field and we gave everything during the week. I couldn't ask for more from them at this moment. We did much better in the second half because we were a bit afraid of losing the ball in the middle and were just playing horizontally. The guys did exactly what we tried to do. We are a Club that wants to play well and lead the game because we know that in the long term, we have better chances of winning."

SAMUEL PIETTE "It's encouraging for the way we play, the way we control the match, it's what we wanted to do. We lost this match due to a lack of finishing, but the chances were there, it's unfortunate and frustrating. It was very interesting to have Prince and Vrioni on the field. Vrioni managed to create chances, he's hungry and it will certainly bring positive competition internally. Synchuk looked very comfortable. He did very well and we could see his quality in one-on-one situations or dribbling. For his young age, he has a good reading of the game, he's intelligent and he mostly makes the right choice."

The next match for the Bleu-blanc-noir will be next Saturday, April 19 at 7:30pm, against Orlando City SC at Stade Saputo. Buy your tickets for the match HERE!
