(Montreal, QC) June 11th, 2012-- Kia Canada Inc. (KCI) and the Montreal Impact are raising awareness for PROCURE, a charity working towards the prevention and cure of prostate cancer. Proceeds will be collected before and during Montreal Impact’s June 16th grand opening match at Stade Saputo. Kia dealers in the Montreal area will also be holding test drives to raise money for the cause. During the week prior, from June 11th to 15th, everyone is invited to test drive a Kia vehicle for a $10 donation.
“Prostate cancer is an extremely important issue in today’s society and Kia is pleased to be involved in Driving Change and awareness for the PROCURE cause,” said Maria Soklis, Kia Canada’s Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO). “This Father’s Day weekend will give the public an opportunity to learn more about how they too can Drive Change against the most common cancer among Canadian men.”
Malvina Klag, Executive Director of PROCURE, commends Kia for its creativity and leadership in increasing awareness and support for this cause. "One in seven men will be diagnosed with this disease - the numbers are staggering. It's time that men stand up for their health!"
“It is important for us to continue to help PROCURE with increased determination,” declared Impact President, Joey Saputo. “I would like to thank Kia Canada for their participation and desire to help educate the public about this cause. We invite you to give generously on June 16th during the game at Stade Saputo.”
On June 17th, the PROCURE Walk/Run of Courage will be taking place at Parc Jean-Drapeau. It begins with a Father’s Day Breakfast followed by a five-kilometre walk or run. The whole family is invited to enjoy the festivities and events of the day and cheer on the 10-person Kia Canada team. The event is hosted by Penelope McQuade and Gérald Tremblay, Mayor of Montreal. About PROCURE
PROCURE is the only charity in Quebec devoted entirely to prostate cancer. Its mission is to provide science and humanity with means to help prevent and cure prostate cancer. This is made possible through four components: awareness-raising, support, information and research in Quebec’s four university hospital centres. Moreover, PROCURE organizes activities throughout the year all over Quebec aimed at promoting early detection of this cancer which too often remains taboo.
