Montreal down 2-1 after first leg against CD Olimpia
Concacaf announced today the resumption of the Concacaf Champions League, which will play its final games from December 15 to 22. The tournament was postponed in March at the quarterfinal stage, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The rest of the tournament will consist of single-leg ties in a neutral venue in the United States to be announced in the coming weeks. A total of seven games will be played to determine the eventual winner.
Quarterfinals: to be played December 15 and 16, 2020
CD Olimpia (2) vs (1) Impact Montreal (Impact considered away)
Atlanta United FC (0) vs (3) Club America (América considered away)
Tigres UANL (1) vs (0) NYCFC (NYCFC considered away)
LAFC vs Cruz Azul (single elimination game)
The Montreal Impact defeated Costa Rican side Deportivo Saprissa in the round of 16 to qualify to the quarterfinals, where it lost its first leg to CD Olimpia 2-1 at Olympic Stadium. At the end of the second leg against the Honduran side, should the aggregate score be level, the away goals rule will apply. Should the score be level on aggregate and away goals, the result will be determined by penalty kicks.
Because LAFC and Cruz Azul did not play the first leg of their matchup, the tie will be decided by one game only.
