Evan Bush: Videotron Player of the Year

American goalkeeper ranks first in standings with nine game balls

Every game, the Montreal Impact asks you to pick your Videotron Man of the Match through our mobile app. It’s always a choice between three Impact players who are having a good game, and the winner is announced once the game is over.

The season is over, which means we now have our Videotron Player of the Year, and that’s goalkeeper Evan Bush. In his eighth season with the club, the man between the pipes managed nine Videotron Man of the Match nominations, adding three in the last three games of the season, which included two clean sheets.

The Ohio native led MLS with 132 saves and tied for third with 10 clean sheets during the regular season. On a personal level, he surpassed Greg Sutton for most career saves and minutes played with the Impact in the regular season, in both the first and second divisions, cementing his name in club history on its 25th anniversary season.

“Last year lit a fire under me,” said the Impact goalkeeper. “I made it a point to really lock in during the offseason and come stronger and prove that I’m capable of having seasons like the one I had this year.”

His performances also earned Bush the honour of Defensive player of the year for his second time with the Bleu-blanc-noir.

To honour the ‘keeper, Videotron will donate an undisclosed amount to a charity of Evan Bush’s choice.

Shoutout to Samuel Piette as well, who joins Bush as the only Impact player to have started every MLS game during the 2018 campaign. The Canadian midfielder finished second in the Videotron standings, five points behind the leader, while Nacho Piatti closes out the top three with 27 points.

For our standings, the winner of the Videotron Man of the Match earns five points, whoever finishes second gets two points, and the player who finishes third gets one point.
