HAMILTON, Ontario - CF Montréal will face Forge FC in the first leg of the 2024 TELUS Canadian Championship quarterfinals this Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. EDT at the Tim Hortons Field (OneSoccer, BPM Sports).
For the fourth year in a row, CF Montréal will square off with the Hamilton-based club in the Canadian Championship. The Bleu-blanc-noir remain unbeaten against their Ontario rivals, with a perfect 3-0-0 record (five goals scored and no goals conceded).
On their last and only visit to Tim Hortons Field in 2021, the Montrealers won their semifinal on penalties (8-7) after a 0-0 draw in regulation time. Goalkeeper Sebastian Breza scored the winning penalty.
Striker Sunusi Ibrahim remains the team's leading active scorer in the Canadian Championship with six goals in the tournament.
The defending Canadian Premier League champions enter this quarterfinal after eliminating York United FC 3-1 on May 1 in the preliminary round. Bobby Smyrniotis' side also boast a perfect regular-season record to date. In three games, Hamilton recorded three wins with seven goals scored and two conceded. The team also made an early start to the 2024 season, participating in the Concacaf Champions Cup for the first time in its history in February. However, the Ontarians lost in the First Round to C.D. Guadalajara of LIGA MX 5-2 on aggregate.
