CF Montréal to play Canadian Championship final

Montreal to take on Vancouver for the Voyageur’s Cup

CF Montréal will travel to Vancouver to take on the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday, June 7, at 10:30pm EST, in the final of this year’s Canadian Championship. You can follow the game live on One Soccer, BPM Sports, and TSN 690.

The winner of this game will be crowned Canadian champions, lifting the Voyageur’s Cup and earning themselves a spot in next year’s Concacaf Champions League.

“We know Vancouver very well and they know how we play," said head coach Hernán Losada. “After that, it's a final. It's an all-or-nothing game. It depends on a lot of things that sometimes you can't control. But in terms of formation and tactics, it's hard to find a surprise at this point in the season."

Head coach Hernán Losada’s men reached the final of this year’s competition after defeating Vaughan SC 2-0 in the first round at Stade Saputo, followed by a 2-1 win in the quarterfinals at BMO Field against Toronto FC. They finally hosted Forge FC in the semi-final at Stade Saputo, defeating the Hamilton side 2-0.

Vancouver, on their end, entered this year’s competition as defending champions. Taking on York FC in the quarterfinals, head coach Vanni Sartini’s men came away with a comfortable 4-1 win, before dispatching of Pacific FC in the semi-final, 3-0 the final score. The west coast side has been on a good run of form as of late, with just one loss in their last five games through all competitions.

"There's a lot of resilience in this team," Losada said. There's a lot of unity and willpower. We're going to do our best to stay competitive and play a good game, because we all hope we can win this cup."

Montreal will play two consecutive home games after the Canadian Championship final, starting with this Saturday, June 10, against Minnesota United, followed by a tilt against Nashville SC on Wednesday, June 21, at 7:30pm. You can purchase tickets for those games here.
