Along with the rest of the province, CF Montréal continues to mourn the death of legendary Quebec hockey player Guy Lafleur.
Still the leading goalscorer of the storied Montreal Canadiens franchise to this day, Lafleur was one of the best NHL players of his generation. But it was his kindness and genuineness that made him beloved by all. Guy’s love for the community he belonged to was unmatched, and it is why he will be sorely missed.
To honour Lafleur, all of CF Montréal’s players will wear a patch on the sleeve of their jerseys during the game, as well as a special shirt, with Lafleur and the number 10 on the back, during warmups.
Our team captain will also wear a black armband with the number10 on it, as he did during the game last week in Philadelphia.
There will also be a moment of silence right before kick-off, with the players of both teams forming a circle in the centre of the pitch.
Our supporters’ group, the 1642MTL, will release red, blue and white smoke at the 10th minute. They have also made a special banner for the occasion. Our LEDs and giant screen will also follow suit to honour the Flower at that moment.
Our in-stadium host Catherine Paquette will also give away a Club jersey with the special patch honouring Guy Lafleur, during the 10th minute.
