CF Montréal hosts New York City FC at Stade Saputo

Montreal looking to extend winning streak at home to nine games

CF Montréal is back in action tonight Saturday night to take on New York City FC at Stade Saputo, with kick off set at 7:30pm. You can still purchase tickets for the game here.

Montreal will be looking to extend its winning streak at home to nine games through all competitions. Head coach Hernán Losada’s men have also been perfect defensively during that streak, allowing no goals with goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois manning the net.

With another win against NYCFC Saturday, Montreal would also establish an MLS record of seven consecutive games won at home in MLS.

“I think we’re so good at home because we have the right mentality,” said Ariel Lassiter. “Doesn’t matter who steps on the pitch here, we’re going to try and get the three points. We’re going to work extremely hard on both sides of the ball. I know there’s a bit of history between the two sides in the playoffs last year, but no matter the opponent, we have to have the same mentality.  We need to go out there and play our game.”

It will be a first game between the two sides since New York eliminated CF Montréal at Stade Saputo in last year’s MLS Cup Playoffs, which will certainly be on the minds of the Bleu-blanc-noir’s players.

Montreal is also coming off an impressive result on the road against Charlotte FC, notching a point in a scoreless draw.

NYCFC, on their end, is currently on a run of five consecutive draws. The Citizens haven’t won a game since a 3-1 against FC Dallas on April 22, and will be eager to get into the winning column. The New York side sits in 13th in the Eastern Conference with 21 points and hasn’t won a game on the road this year.

"They're a team with a lot of technical quality, with players who are very good in small spaces," said head coach Hernán Losada. They haven't lost in their last five games, with tough trips to Portland, Atlanta and Salt Lake. They've picked up points. They're always a tough team with a lot of quality and we take this game very seriously."

CF Montréal will be back in action the following week at Stade Saputo to take on Atlanta United on Saturday, July 8, at 7:30pm. You can buy tickets for that game here.
