CF Montréal hosts FC Cincinnati Wednesday at Stade Saputo

MONTREAL - With six games to play in the regular season, CF Montréal is set to welcome FC Cincinnati this Wednesday at 7:30pm at Stade Saputo (Free on MLS Season Pass, BPM Sports, TSN 690).

After a first ever scoreless draw at home this season last Saturday against Chicago, Montreal now turns its attention to Eastern Conference-leading Cincinnati.

“We feel good at home, with all the fans behind us," said head coach Hernán Losada. “There's an incredible atmosphere. Even though Cincinnati is the best team in the league, I'm sure we'll have a good game.”

The Bleu-blanc-noir have an overall 3-4-1 record against Cincinnati, with a -3 goal differential, and 2-2-0 when playing north of the border. In their last meeting, the Montrealers fell 3-0 on May 17 at TQL Stadium. It was the first time in three games that Montreal failed to score at least three goals against Cincinnati. The two previous duels ended 8-7 on aggregate in Montreal's favour.

As for Cincinnati, the team is enjoying the best regular season in its history since joining Major League Soccer in 2019. Having finished near the bottom of the East in three of the last four MLS seasons, namely 2019 (12th in the East), 2020 (14th in the East) and 2021 (14th in the East), the Ohio team has enjoyed a meteoric rise in 2023. They boast a 17-4-7 overall record and clinched their playoff participation on August 30.

Argentine Luciano Acosta remains the visitors' main threat. In 26 games this season, the midfielder has 13 goals and 11 assists.

In addition, a number of special activities will be taking place in the concourse as part of the student theme night, “Campus CF”, including arcades and Teqball.
