Honduran winger joins Impact from Houston
We didn’t have to wait long for the first transfer of the Thierry Henry era at the Montreal Impact, and it was a big one: the Honduran international Romell Quioto will join the Montreal club after spending the past three seasons at the Houston Dynamo.
The winger took to Twitter immediately after the trade was announced, and needless to say, he’s excited by the new challenge, and proud to be joining Montreal.
The Impact, on its end, knows it’s acquired a technical forward with lots of quality. After joining the Dynamo in 2016 from Honduras, the winger scored seven goals and added three assists in just 10 starts, including a goal in his first game with his new team, which you can watch below.
Henry said it at his opening press conference, last Monday at Centre Nutrilait: he prefers an attacking style, and that’s the type of game he wants his team to play. The addition of Romell Quioto is certainly a good start.
Quioto also represents the Honduran national team, and was an integral part of the team’s berth into the intercontinental playoff, scoring the game-winning goal against Mexico to put his team through, although his side ultimately lost out to Panama for that final World Cup spot.
