MONTRÉAL – The captain has to be patient.

Head coach Mauro Biello announced on Friday that midfielder Patrice Bernier will be forced off the soccer field due to a hamstring injury sustained in preseason. Bernier could only play in three games during the last month of preparation.

“Patrice will be out for some time,” Biello confirmed. “It’s a bit more serious than we thought, so we’ll have to wait for him to recuperate.”

Bernier, 36, is entering his fifth MLS season. In 104 career MLS games, 79 of which he started, Bernier scored 13 goals and registered 20 assists in 7143 minutes of play.
