Former Italian international striker to get back in shape with Bleu-blanc-noir this week
The Montreal Impact announced on Monday that Italian striker Alberto Gilardino will train with the club at its Centre Nutrilait facility, starting Tuesday.
The former AC Milan and Fiorentina player, who also played one Serie A season with Bologna FC 1909 in 2012-13, is now 35 years old and wants to get back in shape in Montreal.
Without a contract since the summer, the Biella native, a city in the Italian northwest, has played 514 career Serie A games, recording 188 goals in Italy’s first division. He has been a part of the Squadra Azzurra that won the World Cup in 2006 and lifted a UEFA Champions League trophy and a FIFA Club World Cup with AC Milan.
